Since you guys loved my dumbest 80's lyric post (and by loved I mean hated), I have decided to give it another shot. Let's hit closer to home.
What is the worst Christian lyric you have heard?
ie. Would you believe me if I said life could be all that you want it to be today? Yeah, Yeah (frankly, no. I wouldn't believe you if you said that)
'Cause if I had wings I would fly (of course you would... that's like saying if I had eyes I would see... or if I had feet I would walk)
So... what are your lyrical worsts?

"I may never march in the infantry, Ride in the cavalry, Shoot the artillary, I may never fly over the ememy... But I'm in the Lord's Army."
Sounds intense!
"friends are friends forever if the Lord's the Lord of them."
how many of us did couples skate at christian skate night to that liine?
At the risk of making myself sound even more UNCOOl that I already am, these lyrics drive me crazy:
"A thousand times I've failed
Still Your mercy remains And should I stumble again
I'm caught in Your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing You praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame"
It only takes a spark to get a fire going.
And soon all those around, can warm up in glowing.
That's how it is with God's love,
Once you've experienced it, you spread His love to everyone;
You want to pass it on.
What a wondrous time is spring, when all the trees are budding;
The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their blooming.
That's how it is with God's love;
Once you've experienced it, you want to sing "It's fresh like spring"; you want to pass it on.
I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I've found.
You can depend on Him, it matters not where you're bound.
I'll shout it from the mountain top - PRAISE GOD
I want the world to know; the Lord of love has come to me,
I want to pass it on!
You are welcome.
I shall not be, I shall not be moved!
"This world is making me dizzy
I can't seem to keep it from spinning, no..
Fly high
Jump and touch the sky
High, bring me back to life"
i dont know what it is about matthew west...
"See ya at the party
See ya at the party
Here's an open invitation to all who have ears
To the party of a lifetime at the end of your years
You can be on the guest list if you do one thing
Just R.S.V.P. to Jesus the King
The name of Jesus is our invitation
So let's go up to the celebration
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
Heaven's where it's happenin' so there's plenty of room
Got to invite your friends so they can skip their doom
We'll all be dancin' on a gold dance floor
Cause all of our problems will be checked at the door
Hangin' with the posse, rappin' with the songs
The party's crankin' up so come on along
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
See ya at the party
Get a life and grab a friend
Here's one good time that will not end"
Al Denson always gets to me.
this one comes, not from the actual lyrics (though admittedly, these are some extremely trite and contrived lyrics),but from their (in my opinion) sloppy presentation:
well, i will walk by faith
well, even when i cannot see
well, because this broken road.
blah, blah, blah (don't remember how it finishes, but i think it had several uses of the word "well")
seriously, did no one in the tracking booth notice this guy saying "well" a lot? Yeah, i know it's harsh and overly critical, but i figure that's welcome in a post like this.
also, when he cannot see, what other choice does he have but to walk by faith? I mean, if he can't see, what else is he going to walk by? Hearing? Touch? Smell? It would actually be more significant to say
"WELL, I will walk by faith
WELL even when I CAN see
WELL, because I'm trapped in a WELL, WELL I'm not feeling all that WELL."
OR something.
Well, I agree with ross.
He writes well too.
"...as we lift our hearts in praise." (as everyone raises their clasped hands, not their hearts)
Oh, yeah. I hate this one. "Great is the Lord, He is great to be praised." What??? Is that English? Great to be praised? It makes my brain angry. Absolutely no sense whatsoever.
